Surface-Adjustable
Illumination
Well conditions vary widely between jobs, and many times even at different depths inside the same well. Capturing the best images and video is really only possible when the operator can fine tune parameters of the system to compensate for the well conditions of the section being recorded. Being able to balance lighting between four zones allows for balanced, well-lit images with minimal glare caused by casing reflectivity, particulate matter, or sub-optimal imager or lighting position.

Downhole Vision’s answer to viewing the face of a well casing is the sideview system. Side-facing imagers and LED illumination provide for minimally-warped images and optimal picture quality. The side view light head is turned by a motor section that allows viewing of 360° around the inside of the wellbore.
Our latest motor design offers bi-directional, continuously variable speed operation, which together make it easier to frame just the right shot or capture just the right scan.
Near & Far Field
Imagers
The sideview system is comprised of two imagers: one focused for near-field image capture, and one focused for far-field image capture. This allows operation of the sideview camera inside a variety of casing diameters without the compromise of having to recover or open the tools to manually adjust focus. Further, it does so without the introduction of moving parts, a common failure point of downhole equipment.

Downhole Vision designed the Insight system as a whole with the vision of a “man-and-a-suitcase” deployment model. Transportation costs are reduced, while also allowing for rapid mobilization and deployment of assets all over the world.

Material Selection
Downhole Vision has constructed the Insight system from high-strength, corrosion-resistant materials so as to ensure years of service. For sour well service, materials that meet NACE MR0175 are available.

Image Sensors
The Insight3 and MemoryHD/LT camera systems utilize image sensors capable of capturing high-resolution stills and 1080p video—the highest in the industry.
Robust Telemetry
System
Every wireline is different, and it was with this in mind that we designed the Insight e-line telemetry system. Wireline length, resistance, and capacitance all reduce bandwidth, and the Insight system allows the operator to trade between image quality and frame rate when challenged by low bandwidth.
Onboard Digital Video
Recorder (DVR)
While Insight 1.x systems allowed the ability to buffer high frame rate (30 fps) video within the tool, Insight2 takes this a step further, with a DVR sub-assembly in the toolstring, capable of recording an entire run at 30 fps. Insight3 does so in HD color, without the need of the additional sub.
